    Visual Studio.NET 2005

Well, I hate to feel like the dinosaur in the room, but how is VS.NET 2005/07?

Before I switched to PHP development and open source, I was a VB6 and VC6 programmer. I've heard a lot of things about VS.NET, good and bad, and was wondering if anyone has had any first hand experiance with it.

How does it differ from VS6? Better or worse? Let me know. Cool

I can't say it is better or worse.  That opinion is based on what you like.  VS2005 has a lot of built in functionality like gridviews, datalists, datasets and so much more that it is a drag and drop and a few clicks you posting data.

The software generates a lot of code on the back end but all-in-all is great. Bugs in the software, yes a few, but, not enough to prevent anyone from getting it.

Negatives is that you can use only 2.0 and 3.0 framework with it.

I would recommend going to VS2008 wich uses 3.5, and installing AJAX to enhance the UI.  VS2008 allows you to select which framework to use.

    Best Regards,

    Spence
