    SBS 2003 and anti virus

i have a customer that bought small business server 2003 r2. they ask me to get it set up and there 4 laptops so that server could do backups. there email is host else where and they use outlook and pop3 to pick up there email.
my question is do i need to install anti virus software on this server? if so any recommendation? if so do i need to exclude any files or folder from the scanner?
they currently use AVG on the 4 laptops.

if they had called me before buying this i do not think i would have recommend so much computer for 4 laptops.
and as i read more and more i fell like i may be beyound my skills with anti virus on this type of server, (first time dealing with exchange)
    thanks

I can't believe no one has replied to you.  Probably already did what ever you are going to do but I will put in my two cents.

AVG has a server version that isn't bad.  Some of my customers use it.

With Exchange you always want to exclude the Log and Database files from being scanned.  Outside of that you should be ok.

well a 6 month replay time is not bad. i did go with avg there file server version. they do not use the the server for email. i used a couple referances to exclude some of the folders from being check by the software. while i do not have day to day contact they have not called with any problems so i make the assumtion that all is going well.
