Dear IWUG'rs,

It gives me great excitement to announce that after 9 years of IWUG, we are finally going to be able to have IWUG meetings every month instead of every other month. We will kick off this month's IWUG at the offices of Apparatus Inc who is our generous host for our meetings. Apparatus's offices are located in the downtown area and this will also give everyone who cannot attend the north-side meetings a chance to attend.

One of the key things thats being talked about is the move to the cloud. However, not everyone wants to offload everything to the cloud. With a hybrid Office 365 deployment, you dont have to. You can deploy part of Exchange, SharePoint and/or Lync on premise as well as Office 365. “A hybrid option is very rarely a bad one,” he says. “It gives you lots of deployment choices, allowing you to explore and experiment without taking on too much of the cloud world at once.” Besides offering a chance to dip a toe (or a finger) into the cloud, the hybrid approach also has other attractions. “The hybrid environment lacks the advantage of a public deployment in terms of the cost reductions and scale available to you, but it keeps the advantages of a private setting, such as keeping control of data on premises. You might need this to meet compliance regulations or particular deployment needs, for instance,”

Speaker:
Radu Gavrila is a computer technology enthusiast and an educator at heart, with a passion for enriching and empowering others through his knowledge and skills. Radu started his computer experience in the mid 1980’s by assembling his first Commodore – compatible computer from parts. Starting in 1990, Radu has held various positions, including ownership, with private international companies in the IT field.

Currently, Radu is the President, Senior Instructor with LANtech Training, a Microsoft Gold Partner for Learning Solutions, specializing in Windows Server systems, Exchange Messaging and Collaboration, as well as Information Worker solutions, including Microsoft Office deployments and SharePoint Server technologies. Through numerous custom training projects held at large organizations in the Midwest, Radu has established himself as an effective facilitator for knowledge transfer and a SharePoint expert.

Personally, Radu enjoys spending time with his wife Jasmina, their 4 children and lately grand-children. When he can break away from studying new technologies and solving business problems, he enjoys playing piano, violin and Wii drums. He maintains contact with his family and friends in Turkey and Romania, his native country.
